BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Pittsburgh Panthers and SMU Mustangs will square-off in the sixth annual BBVA Compass Bowl, bowl officials announced. The Mustangs and Panthers have played five times previously with the series tied at 2-2-1. In the only previous bowl matchup between the schools, SMU defeated Pitt 7-3 in the 1983 Cotton Bowl.
